How Far Being a Banana Got Me

I still remember it vividly. I was 10 years old, and I had just come home from school. I opened the door to our townhouse and found my mum in a near foetal position on the chair sobbing. This was the first time I’d ever seen my mum in such a state...

I Am Not a Tourist Here

I would try to listen in on their conversations to see what Spanish words I could pick up. I ignored the stares my dad and I received every time we got on the bus. I knew that people could look at us and know we were not from there, yet I tried desperately to fit in in this place that I called home...

Self-Worth, Strength and Stripping Away The Rest

How much of my self-worth comes from my being a TCK? Some of the major strengths that I have gained are tolerance, a wider worldview, broader experience, empathy, and resilience...

It is an Indonesian superstition that figments from your nightmares are brought into the world via mirrors as you sleep. As an adult I don't believe the superstitions anymore, but I'm in no hurry to sleep with a mirror opposite my bed either...

Our Newest Theme

Welcome to our newest theme!

This month we are looking at Self Worth and we have some wildly empowering articles to share.

Will all of our articles be upbeat and happy? I do know a few of our readers are skeptical about the positive nature of our articles and I am glad you've flagged this with us! While we certainly aren't aiming for shallow happy vibes, we do make sure our articles are constructive and, when appropriate, share the good stuff we've learned from our stories.

This is simply because being a TCK is already hard enough without our content adding to the uphill climb! We also want to share the wisdom we wish someone could have told us earlier in our journeys to becoming healthier and whole TCKs.

We publish a story every Saturday and Wednesday so make sure you visit us then. If you have any TCK stories which meet our guidelines, send them my way at, or feel free to post them on our Community Facebook Group.

Our March edition is "Woman" and we are still accepting submissions.

I'd like to say a BIG thank you to Ashleigh Leyshon, Lilith Palmer and Lucy O'Connor for editing this edition with me.

Lots of love
