Our Newest Theme:

Welcome to our newest theme!

This month we have been interviewing ourselves and others around us to get right into the crux of an authentic TCK life: have we influenced our dearly beloved? Who and what has impacted us? What rituals have shaped us? And have our habits and ideas changed people within close proximity? We tried to understand just how far our ripples have spread.

We did a bit of primary research, spoke to our closest people and have written up our findings. We've dived into personal profiles about ourselves this month too and are looking forward to sharing them with you.

If you would like to get in on the fun - send us your own TCK profile! We followed this format, and thought about where our experiences have been shaped, heavily inspired by Taiye Selasi's TED talk:

1. Start your first paragraph with "I am a local. I am multilocal".

2. What are your rituals?

What are your daily rituals and where are they from?
What other rituals do you practice and where are they from? Who did you learn them from?
In what cities do shop keepers know your face?

2. Tell us about your relationships:

To whom do you speak to once a week without fail?
Who shapes your weekly emotional experience and where do they live? How do you speak to each other?
Which relationships are home for you?

3. What restrictions do you need to manage?

Where are you able to live?
What passport/s do you hold?
Are you restricted by racism from feeling fully at home where you live?
Are you restricted by civil war/dysfunctional governance/economic inflation/from living in the locality from where you learned your rituals as a child?

4. Where to next?

We hope you enjoy our latest theme!
